Up to 40% of carpark spaces at the Western Isles Hospital in Stornoway will be out of bounds for a fortnight or so during improvement works.

Part of the hospital roads and car parks are being upgraded while the helipad undergoes strengthening

Contractors are due to start on Monday 30th and the helicopter landing pad will be off-limits to aircraft for a month.

The health board asks people to avoid driving to, and parking at, the hospital, if at all possible.

Meanwhile, at the same time, upgrade works inside the hospital will cause disruption.

Visiting to medical ward 1 and the surgical and maternity wards end at 8.30pm for a few days from next Monday as carpets are being replaced in corridors.
