Following his relocation to Inverness with his family, Alasdair Morrison has resigned from the board of Stornoway Port Authority.

The board thanked Mr Morrison for his contributions over the past few years and wished him every success in his new life on the mainland.

Alasdair Morrison said it was a "privilege" to serve on the harbour board.

Meanwhile, John Nicolson of Point has appointed as a co-opted member. Mr Nicolson - who sailed as captain with Blue Star and Weston Shipping - owned and operated the Stornoway prawn trawlers. He was one of the founding members of the Stornoway Fisherman’s Co-operative, serving as both chairman and general manager. Latterly, he was the boss of Young’s factory at Goat Island, Stornoway until his retirement in 2012.
