Around 130 runners have taken part in the annual Stornoway half marathon.

The weather held good with blazing sunshine and little wind though many sweltering on the 13 mile distance may have wished for cooler temperatures.

Winner was Willie MacRury who completed the course in one hour and 13 minutes. Local police officer, Alanna Goddard, was the fastest woman with a time of one hour and 26 minutes.

Runners headed north from the town's inner harbour, down Matheson Road to Newton and Lower Sandwick, up North Street to Melbost Farm and through Steinish village. The route wound back to town, first through Willowglen and the Lews Castle Grounds before the final leg to the finish point at the harbour.

A 10k race and fun run was also held.
