David Teale, the procurator fiscal at Stornoway Sheriff Court for the past 15 years, has retired.

Paying tribute to his work, Sheriff David Sutherland said: “Mr Teal has served the community well by prosecuting without fear or favour and exemplifying all that is good in our procurator fiscal service.“

He highlighted Mr Teale is “one of the best” fiscals he has come across in courts throughout the north.

The sheriff stressed: “I hope the next procurator fiscal will prosecute in the same resolute and fair manner.”

Stornoway lawyer, Angus Macdonald agreed.

He said the fiscal - nicknamed Tiger Teal at his previous post in the central belt - would be a “hard act to follow.”
