Ferry delayed by broken deck 13/7/14
Faulty hydraulics meant the Stornoway ferry was stuck in port on Saturday afternoon.
The MV Isle of Lewis’ hydraulically operated mezzanine deck - needed to carry the
extra vehicle son the busy weekend sailing - failed to work.
Operator Caledonian Macbrayne said the delay was caused bya “technical issue.”
The ship’s engineers worked for hours trying to fix the problem as the vessel remained
alongside the pier in Stornoway harbour
The vessel missed its lunchtime departure slot and eventually sailed for Ullapool
around 5.20pm.
The return voyage was also delayed as a knock-on result.
