A video of two Stornoway cops performing on the Mod beat has appeared on the internet.

The footage of the uniformed police officers joining in a jamming session while on patrol around Stornoway town centre showed the light touch Northern Constabulary displayed when the Royal National Mod was held in the Western Isles in October.

PC Norman Campbell and PC Scott Wordie were a huge hit with thousands of revellers as they joined in the party atmosphere with a musical stint in different pubs.

PC Campbell carried his own drum sticks and, every evening, rapped out a few tunes with ceilidh bands performing in the busy late night venues.

He can also play the guitar and was captured on video when he and PC Wordie - also a dab hand on the drums - thrashed out a couple of rock hits while local band A Promise To No-One were playing a gig. The group’s lead singer posted the video on Facebook.
