Photos: Stornoway Christmas Lights Switch On

27 November 2024

Hundreds of people braved the chilly weather for the Stornoway Christmas lights switch-on event.

Children were well wrapped up as they joined a lengthy queue with their parents patiently waiting to see Santa in his Grotto in Pointers on Tuesday night.

Arriving in time for the big illuminations was a special Christmas convoy of brightly decorated vehicles, with not just one but two parades of vans, trucks, and lorries amassing in the town centre.

Even the island’s first ever commercial double decker bus got in the act with dedicated driver, Donald Macarthur collecting passengers from Blàr Buidhe and Taigh Shiphoirt care homes.
