It means a saving of £52 on a return flight to Glasgow as Flybe matches its rival’s luggage offer.
Loganair -
Negative reaction to Flybe’s charges for taking a suitcase on a flight prompted the airline to act.
Interim chief commercial officer, Ronnie Matheson, said “overwhelming customer feedback” from islanders persuaded the airline to offer a better luggage deal.
He said: “Flybe is committed to listening to our customers and we will always do our best to action wherever possible any changes that will enhance their overall experience of travelling with us.”
Loganair pointed out it already allowed a free bag up to 20kg to be carried in the hold.
Its chief operations officer Maurice Boyle said recognised that carrying a single bag weighing up to 20kgs was challenging for more mature travellers or those with families.
He added: “We’re pleased to be offering more flexibility by enabling all customers to bring a second bag without charge provided that they remain within their free 20kg allowance, so that you can fly with two bags of 10kgs each or any such combination, which will be easier to carry to the airport and reclaim on arrival at their destination.”
The Barra Twin Otter aircraft is excluded from the deal. Baggage allowance there remains at 15kgs per person due to the weight limitations on smaller aircraft.
