Gales are forecast to affect parts of the Western Isles for the next two days.

Winds strengthening overnight are expected to bring bitterly cold strong gusts and the risk of icy patches on Tuesday, the last day of March.

A severe gale accompanied by rain and wintry showers may be experienced for a period in the Southern Isles, where very rough seas are also likely.

Conditions may touch storm force with the possibility of 60 - 70 mph gusts around Barra on Tuesday afternoon.

Strong or blustery winds are also due on Wednesday.
