Children at North Tolsta school on Lewis had their Christmas party spoiled when ferocious
winds ripped off part of the school roof overnight.
Gusts smashed slabs of roofing onto the playground with some pieces landing over
the school boundary wall.
Pupils turned up for classes as usual but the damage meant the school had to close.
Teachers tried to contact parents to get the children collected.
The children sheltered in the adjacent community centre where staff and helpers put
on party games and handed out selection boxes.
