Storm set to hit Western Isles 1/10/14
An incoming gale travelling across the Atlantic is due to batter the Western Isles over the next two days.
The Met Office forecasts southwesterly gale force eight winds.
In the Southern Isles, this could increase to severe gale force nine, around 50mph on Thursday night.
Gusts of hurricane speeds may be experienced for a period off the west coast of South Uist and Barra during the height of the storm, late on Thursday and the early hours of Friday.
Rough seas and rain will accompany the strong winds.
