Storm in a kettle                    4/2/12

A "storm in a kettle"  led to a Lewis man appearing in court on an assault charge this week.

Lee Gates whose address was given as Dale House, Kenneth Street, Stornoway, admited pouring water over his partner at their home in January.

His solicitor indicated she was unhappy that he returned late from an evening out.

He fell asleep and she initially poured a can of Magners cider over him.

In a tit-for-tat reaction, the annoyed man reciprocated by later pouring a kettle of cold water on her while she was asleep.

It was  a storm in a kettle rather than a teacup suggested sheriff David Sutherland who held Gates over for six months good behaviour.
