Mr Paterson said “I am an enthusiastic advocate of land reform and feel honoured to have been given the opportunity to lead Stòras Uibhist, an organisation resulting from community right to buy, in the pursuit of its vision.
He said he would work with “the board, all members of the community it represents and the wider network of organisations that have the ability to assist us in achieving our organisational ambitions.
“I hope that by working together, collectively we can continue to build upon the successes to date, and further develop and promote the estate for the benefit of present and future generations of those wishing to live and work across our islands.”
New boss for South Uist landlord, Stòras Uibhist

Ian Paterson has been appointed as the new chief executive of Stòras Uibhist.
Mr Paterson who is presently the general manager of Carnan Stores, takes up the post on 26th June.
He lives on South Uist with his wife Tara and their three children -
Mr Paterson was previously employed in various senior positions with public and private sector organisations at home and abroad.
He served in the army where he rose to the rank of Major before retiring to take forward his career in the private sector.
Mr Paterson has a plethora of business qualifications covering management, business
finance, and logistics in addition to masters degree in strategic project management
from Heriot-
