A woman who failed to carry out her court-ordered community service work has been given a last opportunity to stay out of jail.

Marie Roy, 27, of 97 Leurbost, Lewis, had been “travelling around” and breached the community payback orders by failing to undertake sufficient unpaid hours, solicitor, Ken Macdonald told Stornoway Sheriff Court.

He urged Sheriff David Sutherland to give her a “final chance to avoid a custodial sentence.”

The sheriff imposed a 8pm to 6am nightly curfew for the next nine months.

He also gave her until 18 December to carry out her unpaid work hours, instructing her to return to court on that date.

Roy was previously convicted for possessing diamorphine in Inverness,

In 2014, she stole hair straighteners and money in a cash box during an appointment to get her hair done at a Stornoway salon. She previously admitted the charge plus another offence of shoplifting aftershave, cosmetic items and hair dye.

Last summer, she caused a disturbance and struggled with a man as she tried to prevent him from leaving his own home. She also accepted kicking a wall and threw a cup of liquid as well as shouting and swearing.
