The Rotary Club of Stornoway is staging a static bike ride in aid of the Prostate Scotland charity.

Participants will take turns on five stationary cycles set up in Perceval Square, Stornoway, from 10am to 6pm on Saturday.

They aiming to cycle a total of 500 miles throughout the event, raising funds for the charity through sponsorship and donations.

The event will be opened by a procession of the Nicolson Institute Pipe Band and Marching Band combine, through Stornoway town centre and into the Square.

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in Scotland, with one in eleven men likely to develop it.

Over the past 20 years the number of men surviving prostate cancer has doubled and we want to see that further improve.

Local businesses are encouraged to get involved with staff welcomed to take a turn at pedalling on the day.

Alternatively, employers could set up a static bike in their workplace and see how many miles staff can clock up within the event timeframe.

Donations to the event can be made via www.justgiving.com/StornowayRotary
