A Stars Wars film tour had to cut short its visit to Benbecula due to the severe weather.

The Screen Machine mobile cinema risked being stranded by Storm Henry.

Eagerly awaited screenings at Lionaclete were abandoned on Sunday for the truck  to catch the ferry across to Harris before the storm unleashed its fury.

On Monday night, the cinema on wheels planed to resume screenings of the intergalactic blockbuster under the shelter of hill by the Isle of Harris Inn in Tarbert.

Fiona Fowler, spokesperson for the Regional Screen Scotland-financed service said they “risked being marooned in Benbecula,” by the severe weather.

They had to cancel showings of two films including Star Wars - in Benbecula, to get off the island in time.

The second movie, Sunset Song, will be shown at a later date.

Ms Fowler said: “We took the decision to cancel in order to catch the ferry to Harris.

“It was a difficult decision as we had people booked to see the films.”

Screen Machine has taken Star Wars to fans in Barra, South Uist and North Uist. It had one showing in Benbecula at the weekend before the approaching storm changed their plans.
