A cultural exchange gathering for people involved in Gaelic arts gathering takes place on Wednesday in Lewis.  

The packed programme for Buain includes workshops, discussions and opportunities to share experiences.

Author and newly appointed director of the Saltire Society Mairi Kidd will discuss the contemporary Gaelic literature sector, and where challenges and opportunities lie for writers and publishers.

Creative producer and community arts worker Rhona Dougall is leading a workshop building on questions raised through her collaborative project Feàrna in Argyll, around engagement and indigenous Gàidhealach perspectives.

Christine Macleod and Catriona Campbell are leading a walk into the environment and landscape surrounding Grinneabhat, sharing local stories and culture.

Map maker Raghnaid Sandilands will host a workshop exploring landscape and environment counter-mapping techniques.

The day concludes with an informal open mic session, hosted by singer, actress and cultural educator Magaidh Smith, where anyone who wishes to share a song or story, will be welcome to join in.
