Repairs are required to the Lewis Sports Centre in Stornoway after the building was damaged in Wednesday's severe thunderstorm.

Lightning hit the roof and the heavy rain resulted in a huge rush of water pouring into the premises.

The soft play area, weights' room and climbing wall were badly affected by flooding.

The gym was closed to allow access to get the ceiling temporarily fixed.

Areas out of action are now available again but the clean-up continues.

Further repairs are required to the roof.

A spokesman said: "Over the next few weeks there will be some disruption as there will be some repairs that will need to be undertaken.

"Please bear with us we will do our very best to keep any disruption to a minimum."
