Students studying Health, Social and Child Studies level 6 at Lews Castle College have raised £1925.35 for a local charity by undertaking a sponsored walk over the Harris hills.

The cash raised has been donated to SEIMH - an island support group which aims to support mothers who have gone through loss at any stage of their pregnancy or in the neonatal period.

SEIMH was set up last year and meets at Ospadal Nan Eilean in Stornoway on the first Tuesday evening of each month.

The money raised by the students will go towards the training of facilitators to allow more groups to be established throughout the Western Isles as well as extending support to fathers and wider family members.

Some of the fundraising will also go towards a family fun day and butterfly release planned for August to raise awareness of the group.
