A large sperm whale has been washed ashore at Stinky Bay in Benbecula.
The 48.5 foot long marine mammal is belived to have died at sea and floated ashore on the recent high tides.
The body of the young whale is decomposing near the pier.
The comhairle is making arrangements to bury it in the nearby machair on the west coast of the island.
