Speeding driver was towing a car        10/6/14

Two Lewis men were fined over motoring offences after a trial at Stornoway Sheriff Court

Richard Baker, 27, of Stoer View, Hill Street, North Tolsta, Lewis, was fined £300 and received six penalty points after he was found guilty of careless driving by towing a vehicle at excessive speed at Back in Lewis.

Baker was found not guilty of permitting Jack Cox of driving the vehicle behind without a Mot or letting him drive without insurance.

Jack Cox, of the same address, was found guilty of driving without a licence and was fined £100. Sheriff David Sutherland imposed three points.

Cox was cleared of using an uninsured car, having no Mot and of using a car on a public highway after it was declared off the road.
