An islander who failed to inform Social Security of a change of circumstances and received £5,517 of pension credits he was not entitled to fined when he appeared at Lochmaddy Sheriff Court this week.
Donald John Macphee of 5 Bayherivigh, Barra, pleaded guilty to the charge.
Sheriff Gordon Fleetwood fined him £400.
Macphee was admonished on a second offence of receiving £265 of council tax benefit.
