SNP warns of future of Scotland    19/9/14

SNP MP Angus MacNeil warns of the future of Scotland as the Western Isles vote No.

“We had great votes in South Uist and Barra, 74% there,” he said.

“It’s too early to say nationally. It looks like we’re not in the driving seat yet.

“I was hopeful. We knew there’d be several possibilities but I had hoped for a majority from the islands. We have to accept democracy though.”

Mr MacNeil commented: “A No vote means people are voting for 11% austerity cuts. Will that affect University tuition, I don’t know. What that means for the range of services Scotland has safeguarded, I don’t know.

“Scotland is a country where we know half the people want out through hope and had are kept in by fear,” he continued.

“Will promises be kept with a No vote? Westminister has said anything they needed to, but what thought or meaning they put into that I’ve no idea.

“Now there’s a job to do to make sure Scotland is not left to the mercy of the three Better Together parties.”
