SNP policies crippling the islands’ economy 21/1/12
Sirs,
Surely by now all voters on the Isles will have been sorely disappointed in the SNP and its crippling policies upon the islands economy.
We were of the belief that CalMac (at one time MacBraynes) when set up were first and foremost a social/economic lifeline service to remote communities.
But with the recent stance taken by their SNP masters it looks like they would rather see companies going broke or laying off workers.
With prices rising steeply in the shops, then in due course we shall see more of our youth and families drifting away from home to repeat the same story as of our previous generations.
At the same time the Government seem to be making it easier for outsiders to come here along with camper vans etc hugging our roads, while our own local guys can’t afford to keep lorries on the roads but with a severe struggle.
This is now a sad, and very tragic emerging from the nationalists policies, having hoodwinked the voters in May 2010, with false promises. They are now hell bent on playing 'divide and rule' not only with the UK government but also with the island communities as well.
What is Labour’s response and what are their plans for the isles? Mr A Campbell
Garrynamonie,
Isle of South Uist
