Susan Thomson, the SNP candidate for Na h-Eileanan an Iar, has urged all parties involved to work together and act with urgency to ensure that appropriate educational facilities are delivered for the communities of Barra and Vatersay.

Speaking after visiting the current school, Cllr Thomson commented, “Just like their counterparts across the islands, the children and young people of Barra and Vatersay must be educated in top class facilities.

“School staff and the wider community are also entitled to have their aspirations for education and leisure met.”

She concluded, “The provision of a new school in Castlebay must be a priority for local and national government; the communities of Barra and Vatersay deserve this.”
