A vote for the SNP on Thursday will safeguard the most vulnerable people in society, according to the party’s local candidate.

Angus Brendan MacNeil says the SNP will use their influence in Westminster to “reverse the inequality in UK society.”

Mr MacNeil said: “The SNP proposes a real alternative to the pain of austerity, with SNP influence ensuring a fairer and more compassionate society.”

This includes calling for the pension triple lock to be retained, so the state pension increased each year in line with inflation, wages or by 2.5%, whichever is higher.

He will seek an increase in Carers’ Allowance to almost £600 per year.

Increasing the minimum wage to £8.70 by 2020 plus action on “exploitative” zero-hours contracts are other commitments, highlighted Mr MacNeil.

He said: “With continued opposition to the iniquitous bedroom tax high on the SNP’s agenda, a strong SNP group at Westminster will prioritise protecting the vulnerable and help hard-pressed families.”
