A westerly airflow sweeping in from Greenland is forecast to bring cold and blustery conditions to the Western Isles over the next few days.

The Met Office says a series of fronts will mean spells of wet and very windy weather at times.

A yellow “be aware” warning” for icy conditions has been issued for Sunday and Monday as a run of wintry showers is set to affect the islands.

Sunday will be very cold from the wind chill associated with strong north westerlies.

A forecast gale with heavy rain may impact on Monday evening ferry services.

Stormy seas are presently predicted for Wednesday.
