Hebridean Smokehouse is recruiting for full and part time members of the fish smoking team
Based at Hebridean Smokehouse, Clachan, Isle of North Uist
Hebridean Smokehouse produces high value smoked salmon products sold throughout the UK and in selected overseas markets.
As a member of the fish smoking team you will be taught processes from every stage of production including fish filleting, trimming, salting, handling and packing the finished product, and preparation for despatch. As well as working on fish, all team members are responsible for helping to maintain the high standards of hygiene in the factory.
We are looking for individuals who are interested in being part of busy team who can be relied upon to support each other as well as take personal responsibility for the quality of their own tasks.
Candidates need not have previous experience of fish processing as full training is given but any previous work in food preparation is welcomed. Professional certified hygiene training is given to all team members.
The working routine is generally Monday to Friday with some occasional weekend work during the year and always at peak periods of demand at Christmas. Normal working times are between 8 am and 5 pm but may on occasion be outside these times.
A reasonable level of fitness is required for the post and it should be borne in mind the work is in a temperature-
Competitive rates of pay are offered as well as enrolment in a pension scheme. The company does not offer transport to work and reliance on public transport would limit working time so candidates that have their own transport, or other arrangements may be given preference.
