Concerns over slow broadband      7/10/14

Isles MSP, Alasdair Allan, has written to BT following a number of complaints about slow broadband connections and other problems in the isle of Lewis.

Alasdair Allan commented: “A number of people have raised the issue with me about BT being unresponsive to long standing complaints about a decline in broadband speeds in some areas. I have asked BT if they are able to respond to the individual complaints as well as the wider issue.

“The Scottish Government is contributing a substantial £146 million of investment in superfast broadband infrastructure in the Highlands and Islands which is seeing fibre cabled laid across the Minch and throughout the Western Isles.

“The intention is to increase broadband speeds for the vast majority of households and, importantly, to ensure that fewer people have to rely on alternatives such as Connected Communities.

“However in the meantime I hope that BT will respond and find a solution to these recent complaints.”
