Skye triangle sailings will resume on Thursday, operating through Uig harbour for the first time in nearly ten weeks.
Uig pier is ready to reopen tomorrow morning following completion of the current phase of rebuilding works it is confirmed.
The cancelled ferry service for Harris will be reinstated and the recently opened brand new £1.5 million terminal building can finally welcome travellers. Since January, passengers have been diverted through a longer journey via Stornoway and Ullapool.
Uist travellers will welcome the return of the short sea crossing rather than endure the four and a half hour journey via the more northerly destination of Ullapool.
The reopening comes in time for the start of CalMac’s summer season next week.
A second closure will take place in the late autumn in a bid to install a new linkspan before Christmas.
The first stage of works undertaken for Highland Council which owns the structure finished this week.
The route failed to reopen on 13 March due to winter extreme weather stalling construction delays.
