Money and tobacco products have been stolen after a break-in at Cross Stores in Ness on Lewis.

Police are investigating after the theft was reported yesterday.

It is believed the thief gained entry very late on Tuesday night.

A police spokesman said commercial premises in the area were targetted.

Cross Stores was taken over by Paddy and Johanna Furey just last month after Alasdair and Rona Morrison retired.

The Ness incident is not believed to be connected with a weekend break-in at Buth an Rubha shop in Point.

Anyone with information on either incident is asked to contact police on 101.
