Eating shellfish from East Loch Roag in Lewis may be a health risk due to raised levels of shellfish toxins.

Notices have been posted to warn people and casual gatherers against collecting mussels, cockles, or razor fish from the area.

Commercial shellfish harvesters have been contacted by the comhairle and steps taken to postpone harvesting until algae levels subside.
