Two shellfish divers have been recovered by Barra lifeboat after a search in Castle Bay.

 

The alarm was raised by a local ferry boat skipper who noticed two divers failed to resurface, leaving their small boat unmanned at 11.20am.

 

Barra lifeboat searched the area.

 

Stornoway coastguard rescue helicopter flew to the scene and Barra coastguard rescue team was also tasked.


Around 1pm the lifeboat reported the two casualties had been recovered from the water and taken to Barra Hospital.
