Shawbost whale

A dead whale causing a health hazard has been removed from a Lewis beach.

Environmental health officials warned people and dogs going near the rotting carcass could catch an infectious disease.

The five-metre long finned whale which washed ashore was removed from the shore at Shawbost by contractors hired by the Comhairle.
