Two people were injured after their vehicle lost control on the main road through Shawbost late on Saturday night.

 

The Ford Focus careered off the A858 carriageway and flipped onto its roof around 11.20pm.

 

The accident happened right beside Shawbost Fire Station ensuring a quick attendance of the local crew to help ambulance staff with the injured patients.

 

A 24-year-old male and a woman, aged 46 years, were taken to the Stornoway hospital.

 

No other vehicle was involved in the accident, say police.

 

The road was shut for a few hours while police took measurements at the scene. It reopen in the early hours of Sunday.
