The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning for all of Scotland and northern England on Monday.
Stormy conditions with 60mph gusts are forecast to affect the Western Isles at times.
A number of island ferry cancellations are expected as in high winds and rough seas.
The bad weather is being brought by deep low presently travelling across the Atlantic and expected west of the Hebrides by midday on Sunday.
The Met Office said the yellow “be aware” alert indicated some level of disruption is likely.
A Met Office forecaster said: “Strong west or northwest winds are likely to affect northern areas of the UK on Monday.
“Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely. Some bus and train journeys may be affected with some journeys taking longer.
