A severe weather warning of snow and ice has been issued for the Western Isles.
A plunge of cold air across the region will bring wintry showers, falling as sleet and snow at times to low ground.
Snow is expected to settle on the hills while thunder is also possible in the Hebrides.
Wintry showers on Friday evening and through the night will lead to icy patches on roads and pavements.
More snow is expected on Sunday while blustery wintry showers are forecast for Monday.
