Yet another severe gale is set to affect the Western Isles.

Strong south easterly winds are expected on Thursday morning.

The Met Office forecast winds of around 70mph to hit Barra and close to these speeds around North Uist and South Harris.

Coastguards warned of rough seas around the coast with high waves to the west of the islands.

Rough seas are likely to impact ferry services. Though winds start to ease in the afternoon a heavy swell is set to continue and may affect sea routes.
