A severe southerly gale is forecast to affect the islands on Wednesday warns the Met Office.

Strong winds are expected to ease later in the day.

Gusts of 60-70 mph are likely, with isolated 75 mph gusts for the most exposed locations.

Island ferry services are likely to be affected.

Strong winds are forecast to coincide with the morning high tides. Waves or spray breaking over causeways may be expected.

Another gale is due to hit on Thursday.
