Alerts have been issued of potential flooding to low-lying land and roads along the Western Isles coast as a low pressure weather system arrives this weekend.

Due to high water levels, high tides, strong winds and some waves there is a risk of flooding from the sea to low lying areas said Sepa,  Scotland’s environment agency.

Specific alerts are in force for places known to be vulnerable to flooding including the Lochcarnan area,  West Benbecula, and Balivanich and the airport.

Baleshare Causeway may face temporary closure again while the sea overflow onto the surrounding coastline.

Lochmaddy, Seilebost and Luskentyre, may also experience flooding.

Stornoway Harbour and low-lying, roads and properties, at Newton St, Quay St, South Beach and North Beach, may be impacted.
