A second person has been charged in connection with a break-in at a community shop in Lewis.

A gas cylinder was said to have been rammed through a window in a locked door to gain entry to Bùth an Rubha in Point four weeks ago.

Bottles of malt whisky and cigarettes were reported stolen.

Intruders left the place in a mess with food products flung off the shelves while broken eggs were splattered on the ceiling, walls and floor.

A 23-year-old man was arrested shortly after the incident on 19 September.

Now a teenage suspect has been arrested.

A Police Scotland spokesman confirmed a 16-year-old male has been charged in relation to the incident.

He said both men will be reported to the procurator fiscal in connection with an alleged theft.

The pair are due to appear at Stornoway Sheriff Court in due course.

Investigations are ongoing and anybody with information can call police on 101.
