Fresh land and sea searches have been carried in a bid to find the missing skipper of the MFV Louisa which sank one month ago.

The body of Paul Alliston, of Lewis, has not been recovered despite searches since the tragedy on 9 April.

Mr Alliston was one of three men who died when the Lewis-owned shellfish vessel flooded and sank while lying at anchor off the east coast of the small, uninhabited island of Mingulay.

The boat's liferaft did not inflate and the crew were left in the cold sea, hanging onto the side of the barely, floating device.

Martin Johnstone, 29, from Caithness, and father-of-two, Chris Morrison, 27, from South Harris, died.

Lachlan Armstrong, 27, from Stornoway, survived after managing to swim ashore to rocks.

Islanders from Barra, Eriskay and South Uist joined coastguard teams and Barra RNLI lifeboat volunteers in coastal searches on Saturday and Sunday.

Trossachs Search and Rescue dog team and Hebrides MRT were also involved in the land and sea searches around Vatersay, Barra, Eriskay and South Uist.
