Sir,
John Macdonald is really scraping the barrel when he claims that I am 'sneering' at Angus Brendan MacNeil for attending his father's funeral rather than attending a parliamentary debate. It would have been sad and regrettable if any human being had any other priority on such a day.
In my defence, however, I must point out that he is misquoting me. I did not even mention that Mr MacNeil did not attend the debate on that day.
Instead I reflected on the indisputable fact that despite having a number of Members of Parliament representing scattered and rural communities, not one of the other remaining five SNP representatives troubled themselves to attend the debate relating to fuel duty on that occasion. If they had, they might have some basis for trumpeting their claim that they had any credit for introducing this change.
Don't you agree, Mr Macdonald? Or are you going to continue in your deliberate and dishonest distortion of the words of others?
It really is pathetic and desperate stuff which I'm sure that the electorate must be thoroughly fed up with.
