Sir,
It is all good and proper to look at solutions to solve the problems of employment on the islands. Why on earth would you have the first view of this island be of an oil rig being half dismantled? At the same time inviting cruise liners to see the unspoilt beauty of the Western Isles.
Lerwick has done it but they hid it around the back door at Dales voe.
Why invite pollution that we have no idea on how to rid ourselves of them. Or even what these pollutions are. We would be far safer offering ourselves to the decommissioning of nuclear power stations.
When oil developments come to the west coast, then we should be ready. Until then lets build an attractive town not a scrapyard.
