Sir,

Firstly let me say that it is excellent that Matt Bruce's treatment was successful. May I also add that he was treated in Scotland regardless of his criticism. The NHS in Scotland has improved enormously since Labour were in power. We only have to look at the filthy hospitals under Labour. No one needs to be reminded of the debt and the poor level of treatment within the local NHS when Andy Kerr was the health secretary. Remember Dick Manson as the CEO of the local health board and the ongoing public meetings.

South of the border health trusts are billions in debt, the range of drugs available in Scotland is greater than that in England. Cardiac care in Scotland surpasses that in England. People suffering a heart attack are transferred to specialist centres in Edinburgh and Glasgow within hours of contacting the NHS. I personally have experienced this and had I been living in England there is a strong likelihood I would have died.

Even the BBC acknowledges the NHS performance in Scotland surpasses that in England. In Wales, where there is a Labour administration running the NHS, it is recognised as being the worst in the UK. I'm surprised that Labour activists are trying to make capital of our NHS and its achievements. Especially when you consider that billions of pounds are being paid out of the health budget to pay for their PFI disaster. The fat cats are being paid exuberant charges to the detriment of patient care.
