Scottish Labour would be more Labour under independence   7/9/14

Sirs,

Angus MacCormack - Letter:  Hysterical campaign - totally misses the point of independence. A YES vote on 18th September means that a Scottish General Election will be held which could well be won by a genuinely socialist Scottish Labour Party no longer tied to the policies of dreary austerity promised by Ed Miliband in London. And able to run Scotland without having to depend on pocket money from London after all our taxes go to London.

By criticising the council tax freeze and free medical prescriptions, Angus has given an insight into the potential consequences of a NO vote. The council tax will go through the roof, prescription charges will be back and the imposition of £9,000 a year university tuition fees will mean that some of Scotland's brightest youngsters will be priced out of a university education.

The only people who could benefit from a NO vote are the owners of Swiss oil traders like Vitol or London banks like HSBC who have been bankrolling the No Campaign.

It beggars belief that any self-respecting Socialist could vote No.
