Labour’s Highlands and Islands MSPs have taken up new roles within the party after
Richard Leonard unveiled his front bench team.
Mr Leonard was elected the new Scottish Labour leader five weeks ago.
He has appointed Rhoda Grant as business manager and women and equalities spokesperson.
David Stewart leaves his environment, climate change and land reform role to become
shadow health minister.
Rhoda Grant said “ I am delighted to be part of Richard Leonard’s front bench team
and to take on these hugely important roles.
“I hope to play an integral part in promoting Labour’s vision and also to holding
the Scottish Government to account especially in relation to some of the extra powers
that have been devolved to them.
“I intend to do my bit in tackling all forms of discrimination and the ways they
interact. Equality is equality, you can’t pick and choose. I have always sought to
fight the corner of those who feel voiceless in our communities and this role will
allow me to continue to do so.”
David Stewart said “ I am delighted to work alongside my colleague Anas Sarwar in
the shadow health team.
“Health is a crucial portfolio and as the chair of the cross party group on diabetes
and the Scottish Diabetic champion I am delighted to be offered this new challenge.”
