The two rivals in the Scottish Labour Party leadership race are to visit the Western Isles as they vie for members’ support.

Anas Sarwar and Richard Leonard are embroiled in a two horse contest.

The pair are battling it out to lead the party following Kezia Dugdale’s shock resignation after just two years in the job.

Both are heading to the Western Isles this month.

The rivals are holding joint hustings in 10 locations around Scotland but the events in Stornoway will be held on different dates.

Anas Sarwar will address Labour Party members and supporters in the County Hotel at 7pm on Friday night.

Richard Leonard is due to hold a similar forum in Stornoway on 25 October.

The outcome of the leadership ballot will be announced on November 17, the day after the party vote.
