SSE has announced it is closing its electrical appliances shops in Stornoway and Daliburgh.
Six local jobs are at risk with the Scottish Hydro stores which mainly sell washing machines, fridges, cookers and TV sets expected to shut by 15 May.
All of the firm's 37 shops in Scotland will close as it exits the retail white goods sales. The associated online electrical household appliances website is also affected.
SSE said it was forced to make the "difficult decision" and will consult with staff over redeployment within the company.
Falling sales and less customers visiting the shops in the face of the growing trend of internet shopping for washing machines, cookers and TVs was behind the decision.
Redundancies would be avoid if possible, said the company.
