Scotland’s newest political party continued with its visit to Lewis despite a local hotel cancelling one of its venues following a raft of complaints.
A Stornoway hotel axed the Scottish Family Party’s hall hire booking at the last minute following opposition from Hebridean Pride supporters urging the premises to withdraw the booking.
Initially, the hotel defended the reservation, pointing it hosted numerous events for various organisation with many differing views over the years.
This was all conducted “without preduice, and, in the interests of free speech, we feel it is right for us to to continue to do so,” said the hotel.
However, the party said the booking was later cancelled.
The forum on Monday evening was quickly switched to the County Hotel.

The party “values the complementary contributions of men and women and recommends schools refocus on education instead of social engineering, radical gender ideology and political moulding.”
Hebridean Pride, the organisers of last summer’s LGBT+ event in Stornoway, criticised the party’s views on gender and LGBT issues as being “outdated,” adding that families come in “all shapes and sizes.”
Leader of the Scottish Family Party is Richard Lucas, a former Scotland candidate for Ukip until he quit in 2016.
The following year he set up the Scottish Family Party to “fill the void” created by mainstream parties in the Scottish Parliament and “stand strongly against the tide of politically correct progressivism that is eroding the foundations of our society.”
